Sikorski S61 G-BFFJ at St Mary's Airport after arriving on a flight from Penzance in August 1998. The British International Helicopters service to Penzance ceased in 2012. A new helicopter service is due to recommenced operation in 2020.
This is one of a new batch of Isles of Scilly slides I am currently scanning from my archive. For current Isles of Scilly 35mm archive please click here: www.jhluxton.com/The-35mm-Film-Archive/Isles-of-Scilly
Sikorski S61 G-BFFJ was built for British Airways in 1978 and passed to British International Helicopters for whom she operated mainly on the Isles of Scilly to Penzance services. Following closure she continued to be operated in the UK until sold to Canadian interests. She is now registered in the USA as N904CH to TVPX Aircraft Solutions.

Arrived from prepping at VIH Victoria under its own power yesterday, having the transmission removed for onward transport to Afghanistan via AN124. Intentionally rather anonymous in its ownership, was previously C-FLRM with Rotor Maxx Support of Parksville BC, reg was cancelled May 25th. Was G-BFFJ with Brintel before that.
UPDATE SEP 2020
Still current, presumably still with some government agency in Afghanistan. Delivered to British Airways Helicopters as G-BFFJ, transferred to British International Helicopters (Brintel) in 1986 and to Newquay Helicopters in Jul 2013 and I believe stored. Joined VIH as C-FLRM in May 2017, though I think it was always registered to Rotor Maxx. Took up this reg in May 2018.
Sikorsky S-61N Mk.II G-BFFJ, c/n 61777, was built in 1978. It was operated by British Airways Helicopters from January 1978 until 1986, and is wearing their then new scheme.
The aircraft was used to transport members of the press to the various venues, during the visit of President Ronald Reagan to Ireland in 1984, and is shown taxiing out for take-off on Runway 35.
Photographed: Dublin Airport, Ireland. 3rd June 1984.

G-BFFJ was sold to British International Helicopters in 1986. The aircraft subsequently suffered a gearbox shaft component failure during startup at Sumburgh, Shetland Isles in May 1989.

British International 1978 built Sikorsky S61N helicopter G- BFFJ arriving at St. Mary's Airport with a flight from Penzance on April 17, 2003. She had a passenger capcity of 28 persons with freight and luggage being carried in a forward compartment between the flight deck and the passenger cabin.

C/n 61-777 ex N6231. British International Helicopters operated the Penzance - Isles of Scilly helicopter service, which was due to cease on the following day, 31st October 2012. This was in effect a valedictory flypast, although sadly BIH made no effort at all to mark the end of the service after getting on for 50 years, every single one of them operated with Sikorsky S61Ns. G-BFFJ remained with BIH at Newquay, and flew occasionally until 2014 when the registration was cancelled on 15-5-14 on sale to Canada as C-FLRM; it became N904CH on 30-5-18.
C/n 61-777, ex N6231. Sadly Penzance Heliport closed for good on 31st October 2012, bringing to an end over 48 years of helicopter operations to the Isles of Scilly, all of them with Sikorsky S-61Ns. With the hangar building behind, the helicopter having just arrived from St Mary's. Registration cancelled on 15-5-14 on sale to Canada as C-FLRM; became N904CH on 30-5-18.
The iconic sight of the Isles of Scilly helicopter arriving at Penzance, giving the passengers an unrivalled view of Mounts Bay and St Michael's Mount as they approach the heliport. Sadly this is something that has been consigned to the history books, with the cessation of the Isles of Scilly helicopter link on 31st October 2012 after over 48 years - all of them using the S61N.
