LOL, most of my "German Wasp" photos were taken in Sweden, not at home in Germany!
Die meisten meiner Fotos von "Deutschen Wespen" habe ich in Schweden gemacht, nicht zu Hause in Deutschland!

Unfortunately its an unpleasant back story to this photograph. I had gone to move something in my tool shed at night and was surrounded by a loud swam. I ran back inside my house (about 6 meters) and 2 had chased me inside. I was able to then identify them as European Wasps, AKA German Wasps, Yellow Jackets. These things wouldn't let me anywhere near the shed after that and became very defensive and agitated if I got near their nest. I wont kill insects for a photograph, but unfortunately the whole colony had to go, which I took no pleasure in doing. I think they are really amazing looking creatures, its a shame they are so volatile.

I captured this image in my allotment shed of a Giant House Spider with a German Wasp that had fallen onto its web when I moved some bits about in preparation for the growing season.
It was still in its hibernated state so was easy for the spider to deal with.
Thanks for taking the time to view my images. Happy to receive feedback / comments.
I captured this macro image in my allotment shed of a German Wasp (Vespula germanica) sticking out its tongue.
It was still in its hibernated state and I was able to gently move it to be able to capture this 15 image in-camera focus stack.
Thanks for taking the time ot view my images. Happy to receive feedback / comments.
