Throwback shot from town, back when Southeastern set up a Super Saturday on the trains. Which, by the way, never happened again! Not very impressed about that as I thought we were supposed to promote public transport travel??
Done quite some track mileage that day though, was really nice.
Also, deckers on 218/219 are pretty odd. Wonder why this one was a short to Higham Wood too?

Volvo B7TL-5700 YV3S2J /
TransBus ALX400 (10.7m)
H45/27F - 5/2004
New to Arriva Medway Towns under the 2004 'Operation Overdrive' scheme. 6444/5 were one of 6 ALX's branded for the 101 (Maidstone to Medway Towns link). After the 'upgrade' to 10.8m Enviro400s in 2008, 2 of these buses (6444/5) found their way down to Tunbridge Wells along with sisters 6438/9 (former RedLine 140/141).
Originally intended for Arriva London in 2004 to join their ever-growing VLA-class, these 49 ALX's were a diverted order, although the chassis was still built to the longer TfL spec to follow on from the 'LJ03' batch. These B7s sport the Euro 3 7.3L Volvo D7C engine, coupled to Voith's 3-speed DIWA 851.3 gearbox.
Seen about to depart Gillingham garage for Tunbridge Wells, after spending 2 days here in service, for the first time in 10 years.
