Que pourrait sauver cette stéréo, d’Hypolite Jouvin ?
La prise de vue est très mauvaise, mélangeant les clowns et des observants, le tirage papier, trop contrasté et mal rincer : Louis Figuier précisait déjà dans son encyclopédie des sciences, que de multiples points blancs apparaissent si le photographe n’a pas correctement nettoyé son épreuve papier.
Son seul attrait est d’être signé H.J ; ce qui confirme le photographe sur quatre autres stéréos de clowns, le lieu étant non identifiable et bien le même. Sinon…
What could possibly salvage from this stereoscopic image by Hippolyte Jouvin?
The photography is very poor, blurring the lines between clowns and bystanders, and the print is too high-contrast and poorly cleaned: Louis Figuier already noted in his Encyclopedia of Science that numerous white spots appear if the photographer hasn't properly cleaned the print.
Its only redeeming feature is that it's signed H.J.; this confirms the photographer's work on four other stereoscopic images of clowns, the location being no identifiable and indeed the same. Otherwise…

Ces quatre stéréos ont été prises au même endroit. "Trois clowns en exercice" est imprimé HJ, ce qui confirme Jouvin 1864.
pour les quatre vues.( Les trois stéréos clown restante : l'arrière-plan soit ne correspond pas où est trop flou.)

It was a neve-wracking wait here at Florence with a battle between the sun, clouds, and the approaching sunset. Luckily, we had just enough light here to crank out some shots.
It's scenes like this that keep me coming back. NTWLIN heads south into Florence at last light, the virga making for a dramatic sky.
