Red-throated Loon Surfacing After Diving And Swimming Over To Me

This little loon comes to me when I call her. She will always dive and then surface right next to where I am standing. So, cool that she does this. So, I try to capture her as she swims in towards me. This one turned out pretty good I thought. At least it is a different look. Perfectly calm and very clear water really help.

SpokesHawk For The Vermont Raptor Center (VINS)

This handsome Red-Tailed Hawk (and his two human partners) couldn't say enough great things about the home he shares with 40 other raptors (that can't be safely released); the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (www.vinsweb.org). How they saved his life, even though he'll never be completely healed; and how just last year they treated and rehabilitated almost 500 injured birds. These birds ranged from hummingbirds to a juvenile bald eagle with a wing that was fractured by a shotgun blast (nice, huh?). He survived, was rehabilitated, and returned to the wild in just 60 days. Pretty incredible, huh? VINS is in Quechee, VT; you should check it out and help out this great non-profit!
