As part of our private Skychasers group for my astronomy society members, we get an opportunity to go places where we wouldn't want to go on our own or enjoy being in a group.
On this occasion two of us drove to Bignor Hill in the South Downs was easily accessible by car as the car park is on the hilltop itself.
We timed this trip on the 30th July to hopefully catch the peak of the overlapping meteor showers: Delta Aquatics and Capricornids.
On arrival, we were greeted with spectacular 360 degree views but what was disappointing is the light pollution of the small coastal towns hiding the galactic core from us, in fact, hiding most of the Milky way from us. My picture was initially far more light polluted than what shows here, I had to use a gradient filter to reduce and reveal more.
