Old Fort House, constructed in 1772 by Patrick Smyth using timbers salvaged from Fort Edward, is one of the oldest wooden frame structures in Northern New York. During the Revolutionary War, it served as headquarters for both British and American forces. The house hosted notable figures such as George Washington and James Madison. Currently owned by the Fort Edward Historical Association, it operates as a local history museum. In 1983, the Old Fort House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In honor of 1878 I listened to a YouTube video of a performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto of that year. I don't expect I'll be listening to that concerto again.
