Continuing with the Pokémon-themed jets which are a common sight at Tokyo-Haneda, this time taking a look at Miyazaki-based Solaseed Air which has a history of adorning their Boeing 737s in Pokémon-themed colours.
Back in 2020, as part of a partnership between Miyazaki Prefecture and The Pokémon Company, a Solaseed Air Boeing 737-800 featured decals aft of the fuselage featuring Exeggutor and its Alolan counterpart. The livery was not part of the Pokémon Air Adventures campaign, rather it was to commemorate Exeggutor being the official Support Pokémon for Miyazaki Prefecture, something that is not unique given other Pokémon have been given mascot status for different Japanese prefectures.
The original livery was dropped in 2022, however it wasn't long before Solaseed Air confirmed that a new Pokémon-themed jet would return. It was confirmed in January 2023 that the new jet would be known as Nassy Jet Miyazaki, Nassy being the Japanese translation for Exeggutor; rather than a simple decal like before, it would be a new special livery incorporated into Solaseed Air's livery.
The livery was unveiled in March 2023 with the port side incorporating Alolan Exeggutor, Wingull, Exeggutor, Alolan Raichu and Exeggcute, whilst the starboard side shown here features Alolan Raichu, Alolan Exeggutor, Exeggutor, Bellossom and Mantine. Another nice little detail is the incorporation of Poké Balls on the blended winglets and hubcaps of the main landing gear wheels.
The Nassy Jet Miyazaki is expected to stay in service for a 3-year period.
Currently, Solaseed Air operates 14 Boeing 737s, all of which are Boeing 737-800s.
Juliet Alpha Eight Zero Three X-Ray is one of 14 Boeing 737-800s operated by Solaseed Air, delivered new to the carrier on lease from GECAS on 6th February 2012, later being leased from SMBC in June 2013 until being purchased outright by Solaseed Air since June 2017 and she is powered by 2 CFM International CFM56-7B26E engines. She has carried Nassy Jet Miyazaki colours since March 2023.
