European Ash Bonsai Tree (Fraxinus excelsior).
This is a Yamadori (collected) specimen probably from a garden hedge, acquired as a partly trained bonsai tree from the John Hanby Bonsai Nursery in Yorkshire. It is planted in a brown rectangular mica training pot. The soil is a mixture of potting compost, Japanese Akadama soil and grit. The top dressing is Akadama and fine grit.
This is how the tree looked in spring 2004.
