11/05/2025, Charlies Hill Road, Inkerman, Queensland, Australia.
GB:
The northern Queensland area is renowned for its huge sugar cane production.
The cane was growing towards its final, mature stage, and I wanted to show how tall it can grow to, so here was the ideal place, on a very quiet country road, to include my car for a height comparison.

Kia Sportage rental car, a handsome thing.
It has a solid, well built feel to it, and handles reasonably well for such a tall, heavy vehicle.
The fit and finish of all panels, and interior trim, are very good indeed.
However, it is underpowered, has too many intrusive driver aids, and worst of all, the auto gearbox changes down one (or two) gears at the slightest provocation.
Overall, a good effort by Kia.
2023 Kia Sportage 1.6 T-GDI GT-Line ISG MHEV
One of Merseyside's newer patrol cars parked up at the back of Lime Street Station in Liverpool.
Normally the only police vehicles that you see parked in this area belong to British Transport Police so it was a welcome surprise.
This is only the second of Merseyside's vehicles that I've actually seen up close carrying the new force crest. The lettering on the bonnet is tiny compared with what was used before. Hopefully, that will be fixed in future!

2021 Kia Sportage 2 1.6 CRDi ISG MHEV
One of Merseyside's patrol cars attending a shout in Huyton Town Centre.
Not sure what was happening but there were another couple of these in attendance along with a POV (Public Order Vehicle) / CCTV van.
Unfortunately, a crowd had gathered around so this was the only one I could get an unobstructed shot of.
These Kias only entered service during the Covid lockdown but, with the arrival of the next generation Sportage in the fleet, are beginning to look very dated!
