Granular Detail

OK, apologies for not deciding but went back to the drawing board. Wanted to use natural light originally but could not resist lighting these grains of salt a bit more dramatically! At this scale I ended up arranging actual grains of salt and picking the more interesting ones!

Shot on the edge of a lens cap that I must remember to clean before refitting! Guessing this is around 6mm-8mm in actual size, the smaller grains are grinds from the grinder.

Amber Nectar

Got to be one of the smallest (biggest?) macros I’ve shot. This is a stamen on a dandelion that itself is around 15mm in size. It doesn’t have much pollen on it but was amazed that you can see the grains of it on the stamens.

Handheld in moderately blowy breeze.

Himalayan Saltberg

Proper macro this week, think this will be my shot of tiny grains of Himalayan Salt crystals as it’s a bit more on brief than my pollen shot. Shot outside in the rare Bank Holiday sun!

Pollen Count

Good excuse to get super close in then you need to fill the frame! This is from the centre of a Gerbera flower that seems to have mistaken being indoors for spring!

Took loads of shots of it from the abstract to the super sharp, this sits somewhere between I think. Estimated 5mm section of the flower.

WIT
This is a Springtail, which can be found between rotting leaves in every garden. I collected a handful and took dozens of pictures, this one is more or less sharp. I used the Laowa 25mm F2.8 Ultrazoom at 5x magnification. The depth of field is extremely small. I could not use a tripod because these springtails move too much.
