Vom Mittelalter bis heute verknüpfen Vanitas-Stillleben "Eitelkeit" und "Vergänglichkeit" mit unserem Leben. Dabei spielen die arrangierten Gegenstände eine gravierende sinnbildliche Rolle.
Mit meiner modernen Interpretation der Vanitas-Stillleben möchte ich den Betrachter zu einer aktiven gedanklichen Teilnahme auffordern und zu einer Selbstreflexion des heutigen Überflusses anregen.

Das verbindende Element der Serie ist je ein modernes Objekt sowie das Stilmittel der Levitation-Fotografie (schwebende Gegenstände).

From the Middle Ages to the present day, vanitas still lifes link vanity and transience with our lives. In this context, the arranged objects play a grave symbolic role.
With my modern interpretation of the vanitas still life, I would like to invite the viewer to an active mental participation and to stimulate a self-reflection on today's abundance.

The unifying element of the series is one modern object each as well as the stylistic device of levitation photography (floating objects).

Das Stillleben wurde mit einem Studioblitz auf Dauerlicht mit Softbox von links angestrahlt, um den Effekt des Lichteinfalls durch ein Fenster zu erzeugen. Der Rauch der erloschenen Kerze wurde mit einem Systemblitz mit Snoot- und Wabenaufsatz hervorgehoben. Die Blitzsynchronisation des Systemblitzes wurde auf den zweiten Verschlussvorhang gelegt.

The still life was lit from the left with a studio flash on continuous light with softbox to create the effect of light coming through a window. The smoke from the extinguished candle was highlighted using a system flash with snoot and honeycomb attachment. The flash synchronization of the system flash was placed on the second shutter curtain.

Dieses Focus Stacking der Kaffeebohnen besteht aus 5 einzelnen Aufnahmen. Der Hintergrund besteht aus einem goldenen Lichtreflektor und wurde mit einem LED Licht mit orangenem Gelfilter ausgeleuchtet. Die Kaffeebohnen selbst wurden von oben links (leicht vor dem Objekt) mit einem Reflektor mit Wabenaufsatz sowie Abschirmklappen beleuchtet.

This focus stacking of coffee beans consists of 5 individual shots. The background consists of a golden light reflector and was illuminated with an LED light with an orange gel filter. The coffee beans themselves were illuminated from the top left (slightly in front of the object) with a reflector with honeycomb attachment and barn doors.

Für diese Aufnahme waren insgesamt vier entfesselte Systemblitze im Einsatz. Drei Blitze, die eine Plexiglasplatte hinter dem Objekt ausleuchteten und ein weiterer Systemblitz, der links neben der Kamera eine Plexiglasplatte ausleuchtete und in Richtung des Objektes zielte.
In der Postproduktion wurden in Photoshop fünf einzelne Bilder zusammenmontiert.

A total of four unleashed system flashes were used for this shot. Three flashes illuminated a plexiglas plate behind the object and another system flash illuminated a plexiglas plate to the left of the camera and aimed in the direction of the object.
In post-production, five individual images were assembled in Photoshop.

freie Arbeit | indirekte Werbung auf Grund Markensichtbarkeit

Der besondere Reiz dieser Aufnahmen ist die Lichtführung und die Herausforderung, dass sich der Rauch nur bedingt steuern lässt.
Was haltet ihr davon?

Stobist:
Das Hauptlicht kam von Vorne leicht erhöht über dem Objekt. Zusätzlich wurde die linke Kante der Schokolade mit einem Snoot und Wabenaufsatz ausgeleuchtet. Das Effektlicht für den blauen Rauch kam von Links auf Höhe des Objekts und wurde mit einem Wabenaufsatz und einem Gel-Filter erzeugt.

The special attraction of these photographs is the light direction and the challenge that the smoke can only be controlled to a limited extent.

Stobist:
The main light came from the front, slightly elevated above the object. Additionally the left edge of the chocolate was illuminated with a snoot and honeycomb attachment. The effect light for the blue smoke came from the left at the height of the object and was created with a honeycomb attachment and a gel filter.

Bei dieser Aufnahme waren 2 Blitzköpfe im Einsatz. Das Hauptlicht mit Reflektor und Wabenaufsatz kam von links unten etwas hinter dem Objekt versetzt. Das Akzentlicht mit Snoot und Wabenaufsatz kam von rechts oben etwas vor dem Objekt versetzt. Die Effekbeleuchtung erzeugte ein Systemblitz mit Gel-Farbfilter und Wabenaufsatz. Dieser stand direkt links neben dem Objekt auf gleicher Höhe.

For this shot 2 flash heads were used. The main light with reflector and honeycomb attachment came from the lower left, slightly offset behind the object. The accent light with snoot and honeycomb attachment came from the upper right, slightly offset in front of the object. The effect lighting produced a system flash with gel colour filter and honeycomb attachment. This was positioned at the same height directly to the left of the object.

Für diese Aufgabe habe ich 4 Murmeln auf einer Messerspitze balancieren lassen. Die zweite Murmel von oben fällt auf Grund ihrer Struktur aus der Reihe.

For this task, I had 4 marbles balanced on the tip of a knife. The second marble from above is the odd one because of its structure.

Für die Macro-Challenge wurde die Aufnahme entsprechend gecroppt.

Für diese Herausforderung habe ich die 'Triangle' mit fliegenden Karten aufgebaut, die sich in einer schwarzen Acrylplatte spiegeln. Die Blende wurde so geschickt gewählt, dass bereits die rechte Herzdame unscharf dargestellt wird.

For this challenge I built the 'triangle' with flying cards, which are reflected in a black acrylic plate. The aperture was so cleverly chosen that the right queen of hearts is already blurred.
