a lone figure walks the last edge of day, between seafoam and silence, reflected in the quiet memory of light. the puddle becomes a mirror, and the beach, a borderland between motion and meaning.

Nearly 13 years ago I uploaded my first photo to Flickr. The image was taken of the inside of an unusual lamp that had a circular tubed lightbulb, something I had never seen before. For the Flickr Social group's Flickr Birthday challenge I've done my best to "recreate" that photo. None of the lamps around me have a similar bulb, so I had to improvise a little.
strobist: single bare strobe from camera left at 1/16, triggered by pw.
Better if you View On Black.
An alternate submission for week 4/52 of the 2010 Challenge. The theme is "Resolution".
The resolution mentioned in the title is a good rule of thumb when choosing a cognac (and a rule I followed for that purpose in setting up this shot, in fact), or for that matter really any food or drink: life is short! But it's the bar-setting heuristic I aim to follow in all other endeavors as well.
Lighting: diffused halogen from camera back/left. The light appears to be coming from the right, but that is just the light that got transmitted through the glass and the liquid.
Shot with a 10x diopter on my nifty fifty. This is more or less SOOC.
Much better if you View On Black
