Bananas? No. Enlightenment

Perched in quiet majesty, the long-tailed macaque seems to pause time itself. In this fleeting moment, caught between instinct and awareness, a flicker of understanding stirs behind the eyes. This portrait reminds us that presence — in any form — is the first step toward enlightenment.

The Flea and the Philosopher

In the cool stillness of Batu Caves, a monkey sits in thought.
Unseen by most, a tiny flea clings to its face—
a silent companion in a moment that feels almost human.
One ponders the world. The other simply lives.

Carrying Dreams of a Nest

A determined pigeon carries a twig and golden leaves, perhaps gathering materials to build a cozy nest as the seasons change. A small reminder of nature's quiet artistry.

Bornean Orangutan

The Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) is a species of orangutan endemic to the island of Borneo. Together with the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) and Tapanuli orangutan (Pongo tapanuliensis), it belongs to the only genus of great apes native to Asia. It is the largest of the three species of orangutans. Like the other great apes, orangutans are highly intelligent, displaying tool use and distinct cultural patterns in the wild. Orangutans share approximately 97% of their DNA with humans. Also called mias by the local population, the Bornean orangutan is a critically endangered species, with deforestation, palm oil plantations, and hunting posing a serious threat to its continued existence.

Bats!!

So we walked into this limestone cave with our flashlights. When we pointed them upward, we saw these creatures hanging upside down. They are cute, aren't they?

Water Monitor

This is the closest cousin to the Komodo Dragon in Indonesia. I have seen a road kill of this species in East Malaysia many years ago. It was almost 8 ft long. When I spotted this particular one in a ditch yesterday, I was ecstatic. I quickly grabbed my wife 's Fuji X10 and captured a few shots of it. I then crossed the ditch and tried to take a close up shot from the above. When it made eye contact with me, it jumped right into the water sewage and mad dashed into disappearance. I had never seen a big lizard that ran so fast. I estimated its size was about 4-5 feet long, probably a young adult. Later I was told the locals do eat them.
