Roosevelt Island Tour
Call it Blackwell’s Island, Welfare Island, or today Roosevelt Island, it is a location in the middle of the East River of New York City and crossed by the famous Queensboro Bridge from Manhattan to Queens. The island was once a farm; housed a Small Pox hospital, Lunatic asylum, Disease Research Laboratory, and today has a major university college campus, many apartment buildings, and a state park. There’s even a lighthouse at the north end of the island. Even getting to the island via the aerial Tramway is an adventure. It is both a historical, and photogenic jewel in New York City not to be missed.
