Laughter, tears and hugs filled a small pub in Point Richmond, California one sunny May afternoon. Members of the Red Cross gave a bittersweet Sendoff Party for Community Disaster Program Manager Robbie Gaines. After two years serving Marin and Solano Counties, Robbie is leaving the Red Cross for new adventures. In a trifecta of life changes, Robbie is getting married, moving to Europe, and pursuing a graduate degree in Humanitarian Action. Marin County Community Disaster Chair Sue Yeres says, “Robbie has enthusiastically led and participated in all of our blue sky and grey sky activities. He stewarded our move to a new Marin office and helped to build a strong relationship with our County partners. As important as all he has done, is the way in which he took on the role - with compassion, humor, energy, generosity and skill."
