Olivia Holt 17 by Fellrunner

Released to the public domain

Olivia Holt 17

This image, from her music video 'Generous' (2017), shows the then 20-year-old blonde American actress and singer Olivia Holt in a most flattering hotel chambermaid costume. She is wearing a short, frilly white apron over a black, short-sleeve minidress with white collar and cuffs. She is also wearing a frilly, white cap with black trim and black, stiletto-heel shoes. This outfit shows off her lovely legs to great effect! In this image, she is reclining on the floor of a hotel room with a tray bearing food and a glass of wine(?) in front of her. With her left hand she is removing the metal cover from a plate of pancakes. She has evidently availed herself of room service! The video can be watched at, for example:

Waterloo Helmet by failing_angel

Waterloo Helmet

Replica Horned helmet, 150-50BC

Helmet
This object was dredged from the River Thames at Waterloo Bridge in the 1860s. It is made from pieces of sheet bronze joined together with bronze rivets. The horns represent ferocity and virility and were designed to enhance aggression, although the helmet is unlikely to have been worn in battle. It was probably a special religious offering.
[Museum of London]

Taken during the last night of the Museum of London, on the second of its "Greatest Weekends". The museum opened 10am on Saturday 3 December, stayed open all night and closed its doors for good at 5pm on Sunday 4 December.
The collection will be removed, and the museum will reopen in 2026 as the London Museum in its new Smithfield location.

The museum came about from a decision to merge the Guildhall Museum (founded 1826) and the London Museum (founded 1912); proposed in 1960 and formalised by Act of Parliament in 1965, to be funded by the Government, the City of London Corporation, and the then Greater London Council.
The architects were Philip Powell and Hidalgo Moya, designing the site to incorporate it into the Barbican estate. Construction began 1971, and the site was opened at the end of 1976.

Shield
The Battersea Shield is actually the metal cover that attached to the front of a wooden shield. It is made from sections of sheet bronze, held together with bronze rivets. The decoration is contained within three roundels and includes 27 studs of opaque red enamel. Analysis of the chemical composition of the enamel suggests that the shield was made no later than the 2nd century BC.
