In Valdosta, Georgia, a midcentury modern motel has a butterfly roof. by Tim Kiser

In Valdosta, Georgia, a midcentury modern motel has a butterfly roof.

The local county government says this was built in 1950, and the GNAHRGIS database says it was built circa 1970. I hate these discrepancies SO MUCH!!

1950 seems early, right?, and 1970 seems late, right? But I guess I trust the GNAHRGIS more? The building's record in that database is from an architectural survey conducted in 2021. Moreover, it makes more sense that Valdosta would be late to an architectural trend, rather than early, right?

But oh well, I guess it will be forever impossible to know for certain when exactly this building was built. Information disappears quickly!

The building was converted to the "Courlley Court" apartments in 2022.

In Ohio a motor inn from 1965 gets a classy terracotta-'n'-cream paintjob and a blue awning.

Terracottas-'n'-Creme is my favorite flavor of snack cake.

What an opart!, of concrete blocks with triangular protrusions.

According to G'gle Streetvue, the terracotta-colored paint was applied sometime between June 2012 and September 2015. Before that, the whole wall was cream-colored.
