ZWARTE NEUSHOORN
In 1931 was er voor het eerst een zwarte neushoorn (Kali) te bewonderen in de oude Diergaarde.
In 1960 had Diergaarde Blijdorp een landelijke primeur: de allereerste geboorte van een zwarte neushoorn (Laura).
Tot op de dag van vandaag is zij de enige zwarte neushoorn die ooit in Nederland is geboren.
Latijnse naam is Diceros bicornis.
De maximale leeftijd is tussen de 30 en 45 jaar.
Het gewicht is tussen de 800/1400 kilo.
Hoogte is ongeveer 1.40 meter.

In 1960 Diergaarde Blijdorp had a nationwide scoop: the very first birth of a black rhino (Laura).
To this day, she is the only black rhino ever born in the Netherlands.
Latin name is Diceros bicornis.

The weight is between 800/1400 kilos.
Height is approximately 1.40 meters.
