Photographed in Broad Street, Glasgow when vehicle was taking part in GVVT Bridgeton Bus Garage open weekend. These vehicles were a common sight on Scottish Bus Group services between Edinburgh/Glasgow and London Victoria in the 1970s. The Saltire branding was introduced in 1976 on the Group's express services to and from London. SMT started Edinburgh-London service in 1930 when they bought Thomson's Tours who had commenced the route in October 1928.
Hard times had befallen 780 GHA when it appeared, on trade plates 106 FD, on waste ground in Quarry Bank in early 1972. The once gleaming Motorway C5 is now matt red with the 'Midland Red' letters on the front removed and the fleet name roughly painted out, she features the standard Black Country handbrake, a brick under the back wheels.

Standerwick LRN60J was a welcome sight at Heaton Park, Manchester on 5th September 2010.
See also, a similar vehicle in much less impressive later livery...

Well not really, but it looks near enough ;-)
Another photo taken whilst out and about on our travels during the Alton Running Day 2010, shows BMMO C5 whilst traversing one of the local routes. On a very warm Summers day. We were making our way to the pub (See next photo), for the ladies to "Do what they Do best!".
I always found the BMMO coaches a little strange, and they were definetely in the category of you either Loved them or Hated them, I didnt feel that strongly either way, but found the design to be very ecclectic, if that is the righ turn of phrase??
If it was not for that BMW 330 in the driveway behind, I could have taken this shot at any point in the early 1970's.

Perhaps looking smarter than it ever had is former Standerwick Leyland Atlantean motorway coach, now on local service work on Acklam Road, Middlesbrough. This was one of the 'full' conversions - some later ones retained their Standerwick accoutrements including single-line destination display.
