midday crossing

a man drifts through a slice of light like thought through memory, suspended in a fleeting geometry of shadow and stone. the ground beneath him is history — uneven, worn, deliberate — and above, forgotten sneakers swing like relics of stories once lived.

Beautiful women in the bath

Eroded, weathered and decayed carved out mermaids of stone in the bassin of a small almost dry fountain somewhere in Berlin.

Unused sensors

Empty lamp sockets of a set of display lights in a window of an empty shop with an iron fence on the inside of that shop.

But in some way I had the association of measuring instruments of a satellite or something like that.

The Mundane Challenge: A Pair of Scissors by RudyMareelPhotography

The Mundane Challenge: A Pair of Scissors

Finding beauty in the mundane—now that’s a challenge! For this photo, the subject wasn’t my choice; photographing a pair of scissors was the actual challenge I signed up for. So, I gave it a shot and tried to make it visually appealing.

This is my first attempt, and honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. I usually prefer documenting the world around me, so this was definitely outside my comfort zone. Would I ever frame this and hang it on a wall? Probably not. But hey, the point was to take on the challenge, and I did. Fingers crossed I won’t be too embarrassed by this little experiment!

alone in the dark

two children walk side by side, their quiet steps echoing through the dim, urban tunnel. the neon lights overhead flicker, casting faint reflections on the polished tiles. they carry remnants of the day—perhaps candy or toys—but their faces betray a mix of focus and weariness. the world around them, grimy and shadowed, feels far too vast for their small figures. they walk together, yet somehow the space between them and the city stretches infinitely. everything is still, but something about their path feels unresolved—like a passage through the unspoken loneliness of a city night.

descending shadows

captured in a parking garage in palma de mallorca, this photograph offers a compelling perspective on the mundane act of descending stairs. the geometric lines of the red handrail frame the scene, drawing the eye towards the figure walking down, cloaked in shadow. the interplay of light and shadow, along with the angular composition, creates a dynamic visual narrative that transforms an ordinary moment into a captivating image.

hidden recess

in the shadowy corners of plaza bendinat, where the quiet, worn steps of the staircase offer refuge, i found two students tucked away, seeking solace from the demands of their day. their relaxed posture and whispered conversations spoke of stolen moments of freedom, away from watchful eyes. the image, captured in stark black and white, highlights the contrast between the cold, hard lines of the staircase and the warmth of their camaraderie. here, amidst the mundane setting of a small, somewhat shabby mall, these fleeting moments of youthful rebellion and friendship are immortalized.

lost in the market's lull

in the quiet hum of mercat d'olivar, just before closing time, a young boy stands entranced by the delicate task of a shopkeeper arranging her wares. the overhead lights cast a gentle glow on the polished tiles, reflecting the subdued energy of the nearing end of the day. in the background, stalls brimming with local produce and cured meats hint at the market's daily bustle, now giving way to a serene stillness. this candid moment captures a blend of curiosity and calm, a fleeting intersection of daily routine and youthful wonder.

Daily labour working for food

Daily wage labourers take their meals early in the morning and leave for their daily routine. After reaching their destination, they hang their food bowls on shady trees to prevent them from spoiling in the heat. After that, after working at noon, they ate their lunch and went back to work.

Weathered Beauty

This photograph is of a digitally manipulated section of a very weathered automobile left for rust. I found a small corner by the rear window that spoke of an uncanny beauty in the mundane.
