I liked the gleam on the leaf of a sycamore tree

This is easily one of my favorite shots of my son, Nigel, and probably in my top 5 personal shots of all time. I took this photo around 6pm in Southern Mississippi on a section of Long Leaf Trace. We stepped off the trail about 5m where we found an old stable with tack still hanging in one of the stalls. Nigel hopped up on the decrepit fence, and I shot this photo using my Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AF-S lens. I shot this at f1.8, the lens' overall sharpest aperature, ISO 200, 1/640s, and -1/3EV, no flash, next to no tweaking in PS.
What I like about this shot, in addition to the fact that my son is one of my favorite people on the planet, is the spade-shaped leaves in the background that blend out of focus and mesh with the amazing bokeh that this lens produces when conditions are right. Nigel's blue striped shirt accents his blue eyes. His grin is unfeigned, and uncoerced. He is genuinely having fun.
Nigel is easily the most free-spirited of my four kids, and watching him have fun inspires something deep inside me.
