Marsh Marigold

Oddly enough, the Big Spring hasn't produced a big flush of Marsh Marigolds this year.

However, the watercress is plentiful towards where the spring meets the creek!

Pretty Tree Moss

In the valley there are sections of the forest that are covered in these beauties not far from the creek. They stand out in the fall and in the spring.

Deer

As I was squatting to photograph a bee on a dandelion I heard some rustling nearby and stood up to see a pair of deer running along the creek. They stopped and looked at me when I stood and froze long enough for me to photograph them. I suspect it was a male and female pair because one was a bit larger and seemed to be sprouting some bumps on the head. He was behind heavier brush so my photo did not come out too well. The smaller deer in the photo above I suspect is a doe. Shortly after I took this last photo, they both darted and hopped away down the creek flashing their white tails.

Fly blues

Not one of my favorite subjects, but there weren't many insects out last weekend after a hard freeze. This fly was fairly large and had a bit of a dark blue sheen as it rummaged on the ground near the creek in the greenbelt park.
