The Nomad is a fixed wing, twin-engine turbo prop, short take off and landing aircraft. It was designed in Australia and manufactured by the Government Aircraft Factory at Fishermens Bend, Melbourne. A total of 170 Nomads (N22 series) were built between 1978 and 1985.
The aircraft has proved successful on short, rough landing strips of outback Australia, and has become internationally famous in the television series the Flying Doctors.
This aircraft was purchased as a shell by the Broken Hill City Council and provided to the Royal Flying Doctor Service for external restoration. It is painted in the livery of its famous television counterpart, VH-MSF, which is in service at the Broken Hill base.
