Here was the Norfolk Southern.

"I see where riprap and a U-shape of chunky bollards have been installed, in hopes of halting the erosion of a gully," I remarked.

Powerline railroad townscape of Rome, Georgia.

Most of the powerlines are actually telecommunications cables but oh well.

Can you spot the AutoZone store! And can you spot the billboard shadow.

Altoona summer landscape of a FORMER RAILYARD's plantgrowth, as viewed approximately ten years after the removal of the railroad tracks. by Tim Kiser

Altoona summer landscape of a FORMER RAILYARD's plantgrowth, as viewed approximately ten years after the removal of the railroad tracks.

According to the historical satellite imagery on Google Earth, multiple parallel sets of railroad tracks were stripped from this area sometime between October 2008 and September 2010.

I suppose the plants are trying to reproduce and grow as quickly as they can, but I would have liked to have seen a denser and lusher collection of plants by now.
