The city of Erie gets a wonderful new canopy and lineup of yellow bollards for 2020.

We witness four mutual welcomes and greetings, cheerfully passed among the canopy, the bollards, the year 2020, and the city of Erie.

We forgot all of our various unhappinesses of the year 2020 when we saw the new canopy.

Read me it! by Tim Kiser

Read me it!

The building is from 1909. That's hot!

Per this 1921 Sanborn map the "Erie Window Glass Co." was here (at 1229 State Street). I can make out part of the word "GLASS" in red-on-white to the upper left of the faint circle near the center, and "WINDOW PLATE WIRE GLASS" in red-on-white in two lines in the lower part of the sign. I cannot read any of the white-on-red text except the word "HEADQUARTERS" above the circle.

Figure it out and tell me what it says!

Actually no, in this case there is a solid wall on the other side of the openwork, enclosing an interior room. No seethru.

In Erie Pennsylvania a "Queen Anne" house from 1897 is four apartments in 2020.

Queen Anne reigned Great Britain in the early 1700s. By 1897 she had been dead for 180+ years, and it seems like the people of the U.S. could have started trying to come up with some other name for this style of architecture, but oh well.
