Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus)
Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, Georgia, U.S.A.
I captured this image while padding my canoe through the refuge. As I approached, this hawk let out a series of deafening calls. I'm not sure if it was sounding an alarm or simply announcing its territory. I later learned their calls are loud enough to be heard several miles away.
