A brand new No Frills in Toronto's Little Portugal community at 899 College St W near College and Ossington.
This No Frills is one of the chain's first, modern, small form factor stores. No Frills began opening new small form factor stores last year as part of Loblaw CEO Per Bank's desire to have the company focus on and expand their "hard discount" banners, including No Frills.
The idea behind smaller stores like this one is that, by keeping the store's footprint to a minimum, Loblaw will be able to expand No Frills more effectively in dense downtown cores where square footage is at a premium. Hopefully this new store format is successful as (no matter the city) downtown residents usually have fewer choices when it comes to places to shop for groceries.
