This may or may not be an effective spur to action, but I question the science of it. On the one hand, we have already done irreversible harm to the climate--this is not something that waits in our future. On the other hand, in seven years, we will still not have done all the harm that we could do; there's not a point of no return at which it no longer makes sense to stop burning carbon. But I guess that sense that the deadline is every day from here on out doesn't encourage people to act.
