I saw Chelcia and her boyfriend Tom (see my previous stranger) walking in front of me in Nottingham. I quickened my pace and caught up with them and introduced my stranger project to them. Both agreed to being photographed without giving it a second thought.
I wanted to make Chelcia’s beautiful pink hair standout in the photograph, so we headed up the road a little way to where I knew there was a black wall we could use for a background. The wall was in the shade so the soft light was easy to work with. The only problem was the wind which kept blowing Chelcia’s hair to the side. I tried to time my shots to when the wind was at its weakest.
Chelcia is employed as a dog groomer and told me Cockapoos are the hardest breed to work with. In her spare time Chelcia likes to relax and do absolutely nothing other than watch TV.
Chelcia’s guilty pleasure is watching trash (reality) TV.
What one word would Chelcia use to describe herself? “Stylish,” was her answer.
If I could grant Chelcia a wish it would be to own her own dog grooming business.
Thank-you Chelcia for saying yes to being photographed for my stranger project. I hope you like your portrait.
This picture is number 449 in my 100 Strangers project, yes, I’ve decided to do a fifth round. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
