Malacca/ Melaka's Jonker Walk is quite different from KL's Jalan Alor

Jonker Walk by night: pic. 26 of 34: Malacca/ Melaka's Jonker Walk is quite different from KL's Jalan Alor, as Jonker Walk is not only about street food stalls but there are also a large number of stalls selling general merchandise as you can see here, in this stall selling plastic goods. Back to Jonker Walk, this is the Chinatown area in Malacca/ Melaka, Malaysia. This colourful and full of energy (especially at night) street starts from just across the Malacca River opposite to the Stadthuys museum on Dutch Square. It's busiest on Fri, Sat and Sunday nights from 18:00 till 00:00. More notes about Jonker Walk appeared earlier in this album. (see previous pictures). (Malacca/ Melaka, Malaysia, Sept. 2023)

Plastic goods on sale in the Mapusa Friday market

Mapusa Friday market pic 6 of 27: Plastic goods on sale in the Mapusa Friday market in Mapusa, Goa. You can get scores of varieties of stuff here, and plastic goods is only one of them. The Mapusa market is a great place for people watching, to get some really colourful pictures, or to simply walk around to take in the sights ans smells. Although the Mapusa market is functional every day, it takes on a completely different vibe on Fridays, when it operates as the Mapusa Friday Market. Hence on every Friday the Mapusa market gets super active and busy, with scores of additional makeshift stalls, scores of additional stuff coming in and with a lot more variety and choice on offer. On every Friday, local traders, farmers, artisans, etc. showcase their products or works minus directly in the market, without a bloodsucking middleman eating into their daily earnings. More notes and pictures of the Mapusa Friday market appear elsewhere in this album. (see previous and subsequent pictures in this album) (Goa India, Nov/ Dec. 2022)

More bags and misc. doo dads stalls in the historic Sheki market by shankar s.

More bags and misc. doo dads stalls in the historic Sheki market

Between the grisly meat section and the fresh fruit and veg section in the historic Sheki market is a dividing road where general merchandise is sold. Here more bags and misc. doo dads are for sale in one of the stalls on the central dividing road. And it seems that fresh produce has invaded this section as well, judging from the fresh watermelon on sale behind this stall. This and the next few pictures are of fresh produce in the historic Sheki market, and as I could not find any specific information about this market, I will save you the commentary as we go along and let you simply enjoy the sights of fresh produce and the market stalls. Someone was suggesting that this market probably dates back to the days of the ancient Silk Road, but I personally think that is stretching it a bit too far! Historic yes, but maybe not that historic! (Sheki, Azerbaijan, Sept. 2017)

Morning shoppers milling about on one of the dividing streets in the Sheki historic market

Morning shoppers milling about on one of the dividing streets in the Sheki historic market. We have just exited the second lane cutting through the fresh produce section and are once again on the outer fringe of the market. This section has plastic household goods like brooms and brushes, basins etc as well as bed linen and plastic table cloth rolls. Here two old ladies pause in front of one of the table cloth shops. This and the next few pictures are of fresh produce in the historic Sheki market, and as I could not find any specific information about this market, I will save you the commentary as we go along and let you simply enjoy the market stalls. At the fringes of the Sheki market this still sells masks, toys and other assorted doo dads

At the fringes of the Sheki market this stall sells masks, toys and other assorted doo dads. This was pleasant in that it adds a bit of colour to the drab surrounds in this part of the market. Fresh fruit and veggies are colourful enough in other sections of the market. I think colourful market stalls selling general goods look identical in any market anywhere in the world- but each is still interesting and unique in it's own right. This and the next few pictures are of fresh produce in the historic Sheki market, and as I could not find any specific information about this market, I will save you the commentary as we go along and let you simply enjoy the sights of the market stalls.
