I hiked the west rim of Waterworks Canyon on the flanks of Cleman Mountain a few miles west of Naches, Washington and found approximately 55 bighorn sheep. It took several hours of very slow movement towards a group of about 35 sheep to get close and get them positioned near or on the horizon. There are almost always sheep in the area in November, but it is sometimes difficult to get them in position to see blue sky behind them. I spent about 3 hours with this group of sheep and got within 100 feet. Notice the larger ram far right.

Sandhill cranes are large birds, about 3-4 feet tall. The wingspan can be over 5 feet wide. .
Sandhill cranes have mostly grayish feathers-- the shade of gray can vary widely. The forehead has a bright red patch that is one of the most noticeable features of the bird. The cheeks are white. Although the feathers are gray, sometimes they can have a reddish-brown appearance. The reason for the change in color is that sandhill cranes preen themselves by rubbing mud on their feathers. The mud can be brown or red. The red mud comes from iron rich environments.

The Red-billed Gull (Chroicocephalus scopulinus), once also known as the Mackerel Gull, is a native of New Zealand, being found throughout the country and on outlying islands including the Chatham Islands and subantarctic islands. The Māori name of this species is Tarapunga or Akiaki. The Red-billed Gull is a small gull with an all-red bill, red eye ring, red legs and feet, pale grey wings with black wingtips. The rest of the body and tail are white.
The Chatham Islands (Moriori: Rekohu, Māori: 'Wharekauri') are an archipelago and New Zealand territory in the Pacific Ocean consisting of about ten islands within a 40 kilometres (25 mi) radius, the largest of which are Chatham Island and Pitt Island. Their name in the indigenous language, Moriori, means Misty Sun. These remote islands, over 800 kilometres (500 mi) east of southern New Zealand, have officially been part of New Zealand since 1842.
The Chathams are the first to see the new dawn of each day.
Rhesus Macaque
The Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta), often called the Rhesus Monkey, is one of the best known species of Old World monkeys.
It is a typical macaque, common throughout Afghanistan to northern India and southern China.
Large troops inhabit the temples and are often called the Holy Monkeys. Holy or nor, they have sharp canines and take any opportunity to steal from unwary visitors to any of the complexes.
White-throated Kingfisher or White-breasted Kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis) on the alert for a last morsel before roosting for the night. I could not believe my luck to chance within a meter of this beautiful little bird before it eventually flew away into the deepening dusk.
Just meters away from these creatures, the busy city road and the parallel foot path wind their way along the banks of Kandy Lake, the commuters and many pedestrians eager to return home beneath the gathering dusk gloom of a stormy sky...the buzz and hurriedness of man contrast greatly with the stillness and patience of some of the lake's animal inhabitants.
