XPT 2019 after arrival on the rear of the late arriving NSW Trainlink service due at 06.50 (Train 034: 19.30 departure from Casino to Sydney Central).
Quite a few passengers did the cross-platform transfer to the 07.40 Melbourne service.
XPT 2019 was originally built as XPT 2018.
A derailment at Wallen on 20/02/2020 sadly killed both the driver and route pilot.
2018 was rebuilt and re-numbered to 2019 (re-entering service in February 2023).
These 40 year old powercars and coaches were due to be fully replaced in 2023 by CAF bi-mode Civity sets.
Multiple delays have pushed this out until at least late 2025 to 2026.
And some XPT sets MAY be retained for a few years (Still no confirmation on that either way).
If anyone is visiting Sydney, you can usually see 4 to 5 XPT sets between 06.30 and 07.45 at Central Station
