Prairie Warbler
Setophaga discolor
This is a very reliable warbler at this location, but it's not very often that they come this close, and when it comes to photographing birds, especially small birds, there just isn't a substitution or any good way to compensate for distance to the subject. Teleconverters, cropped sensors, longer focal lengths, cropping in post are all good tools, but they will never be able to match a warbler perching within 8 feet or whatever. I just wish they would all come this close and be so cooperative...or maybe I don't. I guess there wouldn't be much of a challenge if they all did this.
