The Byzantine-style Riga Grebenshchikov Old Believers' House of Prayer, which resembles a simple residential building from the outside, has an Art Nouveau-influenced tower with a gilded cupola (under restoration in summer 2024). The House of Prayer is the largest Old Believer house of worship not only in Riga and Latvia, but in the whole world, and is home to the largest Old Believer congregation in the world, with about 25 000 Old Believers. The church was founded in 1760, when a wooden barn was built on the banks of the Daugava River, which came to be known as the Moscow House of Prayer on the banks of the Dvina River. At the end of the 18th century it moved to stone premises. In 1826, the church was named after Aleksei Petrovich Grebenshchikov, a merchant and supporter of the Old Believers. The Old Believers' House of Prayer did not take on its present appearance until the end of the 19th century, but its tower was built in 1905 following the manifesto on freedom of religion issued by Tsar Nicholas II.
...Miss gray had many times wondered what her boyfriend: krrr-zzzZx-Murschzz´s religion was...
Well she knew that every Sunday he used to say, I am going to my prayer house to get in contact with my holy spirit...
Miss Gray had to admit to her self that she didn´t have an idea off what the standard Tri-phone religion was even though they were one of the more numerous aliens species inhabiting human worlds...
But one day he asked her, why don´t you follow me and pray with me?
Miss gray as most human where somewhere between an atheist and agnostic, only a small minority of humans had any of their traditional religions anymore, well except for some minorities like Christians, Buddhist, Hindus, Sikh and muslims, but she had read about them in school so she had some idea of what religion was, he parents parents where Jewish in faith and blood but her parents where secular as except for the fact that they celebrated Chanukkah...
When they came to krrr-zzzZx-Murschzz´s house of prayer she was surprised to see that he was the only tri-phone there and that even droids were allowed to enter and pray...
The priest or rather priestess was a human dressed like a Native American woman that spoke in a strange language she never ever heard before...
When she asked krrr-zzz about why there was droids precent, he said: in our church anything that has a soul are welcome!
Then she replied in a way she had been taught in school: droids haven´t got souls...
Her boyfriend replied: anyone who thinks they have a soul are welcome in our holy church
...when she came home she wondered a lot about what she had seen and experienced this day...
...then it struck her, she had forgot to ask what religion it was and what it was about... why was there no tri-phones?
- Oh My Leech, my second Lord, My Sigue, My King, my huge ruler, what brings you to our prayerhouse?
- Dear Priest and bishop spare me you lips all that waste of work!
-Ok but my Leech, why are you here? to grant me that gold I asked the Senate for for repair of the the prayerhouse exterior?
- No no such luck, but who knows I might grant your organisation some extra state funds if you are willing to cooperate!
- Oh but my huge ruler, I all ready tell the people that it is in our religion to follow the king to war and pay taxes!
- Yes if you didn´t do that I wouldn´t have granted you any fonds ever!
- So what do you want my mighty Majestity?
- this is what your king want´s, you are great friends with our mage!
-yes we share some common interests...
- (interruption) yes of hocus pokus stuff!
- ...eh yeah, the exploration of the soul and nature!
...and he come and confesses his sins, quite many, all those young women, ops did I say that!
- Well my dear high priest I want you to listen more to his confessions and report to me once a week, I am willing to grant your organisation double income for a year if you can provide me with helpful information!

In 1989, Daniel Alamsjah had a dream, in which God told him to build a place of worship in the hills near Yogyakarta, where people of all faiths could come and worship.
The building is supposed to be in the shape of a dove, which is often seen as a religious symbol, or a symbol of peace. The dove is crowned, and its beak is open in song. Unfortunately, the crown, open beak, and fanned tail feathers remind people more of a chicken. It was therefore nicknamed "Gereja Ayam", or "Chicken Church".
Unfortunately, Daniel ran out of money before the building was completed, and construction halted in 2000. The church lay largely abandoned for 15 years, being sporadically used as a place to treat victims of drug abuse or those with mental illness. In 2015, the church became known on the Internet, reigniting interest and cashflow.
Bukit Rhema is now open for tourists and worshippers. There is a cafe and toilet facilities. Construction and restoration work are still in progress, and some parts of the facility feel rough and unfinished, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

This is the main hall on the ground floor of the building, offering a wide open space for sermons to be delivered and prayers to be offered. On the lower levels, there are private prayer rooms, toilets, shower facilities, and a "Wall of Hope", where visitors can leave an inspirational message for others.

This is a panoramic composite image, made up of four portrait-oriented shots. I *had* intended for this to be much wider, but any time I added more than one photo that included the spikes of the crown, the panorama software started to have problems, so I had to cut it back.
This was my second love amongst cities, I was in Berlin the fist time in end of the 90ies when I got picked to accompany one of my Bosses to help him transport some paintings back to Berlin (who had been exhibited on the art centrum Ocean One (old chocolate factory)) I only stayed a couple of days but I fell i love with the city, I have been there a number of times after that last time when me and my ex-partner and "my daughter" visited their family (Grit and her Man Pille) it is still a lovely city... Vienna is the city of my heart, but Berlin comes on a shared second with Copenhagen, even though I live close to Copenhagen now (in Malmö) (just a tiny bridge imbetween) (and a tunnel) it is rear that I visit but when I am over I still feel very much at home in the city where I almost or partially grew up in and later worked in before moving to Vienna, I think Copenhagen is my city Number two to be hornest, perhaps because I never really lived in Berlin, but Berlin is one wonderful city too...
so I guess this is my list of cities I am in love with in order of numbers:
1. Vienna (Wien, bec) (at)
2. Copehagen (dk)
3. Berlin (Germany)
I am sad and angry.
The wooden church in neogothic style from the early 1900s in Bollstabruk.
The Lutheran prayer house was for a long time demolition threatened, until it was purchased in 2011 by a private person and was renovated. In April 2017, when the renovation was almost completed, the house was subjected to extensive vandalism, where windows and furnishings were crushed.
And last night it burned down to the ground.
I took these photos 5 years ago and was waiting to take new when the renovation was completed.
