Yesterday, I posted a Mike Hoff image of Train #412 (Superior - Fond du Lac) cruising through Neenah, Wi on 7/31/86. Eight days earlier, Mike Hoff caught Train #412 several miles south at Oshkosh, Wi. Leading the charge this day is former Milwaukee Hiawatha SD40-2 #204.

BNSF Railway had a derailment occur this morning in Big Lake, MN on their busy Staples Sub! In the early morning hours, the Z-CHCPTL went on the ground while doing 60mph. This caused number of cars to derail, and block both mains. All crew members on the train are safe, and there are no reported injures.

Looking back 12 years ago today, we'll see a matched pair of Soo Line SD60Ms making their way across the former DM&E! Trailing the 6062, is Soo 6059, and ICE 6449. This grade crossing is now an overpass.

Maintenance of way crews are hard at work installing a new switch, and reconfiguring the track layout. It took four excavators to lift this chunk of track out. Watching this process was neat, and the crews moved at a good pace!

Railpool's 187 343-9 was hauling a tank car train through the Altmühl Valley. The TRAXX locomotive was leaving the Eßlinger Tunnel when this picture was taken.
Four veteran SD40-2s bring the MHURC through Wall, SD after dropping off a fifth 40 and cut of ballast cars. The train is just about to descend Wall Hill with a lengthy cut of cars.
Winter and railroads always make for an interesting sight, especially if you mix in snow drifts and a heritage/veterans unit. In this shot, we see CP 6644 starting to emerge from a cloud of snow it created after hitting snow that had drifted onto the rails. This was shot just outside of Kimball, MN. I would end up chasing this train all the way back to Minneapolis.
