Brush & Vacuum

31190 crosses the River Avon at Bradford-on-Avon conveying a 'Railvac' machine en-route from Weymouth to Bescott on 31 May, 2013. As I understand it, the machine is used to extract track ballast to enable the replacement of sleepers etc.

Scandinavian Suction

Just avoiding a worrying patch of shadow, 31190/D5613 hauling the Swedish Railvac as a Weymouth Jersey Sidings to Bescot move is seen at the Broughton Hayes road bridge in Bath. At the time 31190 was in it's 53rd year and part of the DCR 's operation, it is currently to be found at home in Devon on the Plym Valley Railway.

Funny how "the Swedish" got attached to the Railvac on it's travels around the UK, a similar thing happened to Meatballs, Chefs and Au Pairs.

6X44 Butterly - Bescot move for a Railvac unit, hardly a full freight but maybe the second time the 43s have done something closer to a freight move than their barrier wagons.
