The Saint Cecilia Bible comprises two volumes of what was once a four-volume work. Volume one is a Carolingian minuscule manuscript that comes from the ninth century. Two scribes produced the first volume. It contains the biblical books in order from Genesis 12:20 through Ruth with capitula and prologues, plus two short works by Jerome, Contra Helvidium and Ad Eustochium… de virginitate servanda. Volume two contains 1 Kings 8:20–2 Kings 9:9, Job, Tobit, Judith, Esther, 1 and 2 Ezra, 1 and 2 Maccabees, readings for the Feast of Mary Magdalene, and Proverbs up to 26:18.
