The Acquisition of the Staff of Dominance
Shimmerah's journey to power begins with her theft of the Staff of Dominance from Queen Icestal of the Queendom of Magicalu, marking her tenth conquest. Upon returning to her dark palace in Wealthold city, she consults her mirror, which reveals that energy-elves lack power over her or the staff. It also directs her to a spell in her Book of Forbidden Knowledge that allows her to absorb power.
Casting the Power Absorbing Spell
After locating and casting the spell on page 134 of her forbidden book, Shimmerah enhances the Staff of Dominance with new abilities to draw more power from its surroundings. Understanding that Kawaiin holds significant energy due to its temple beneath Lighton, she sets out for Diamondia, the capital city of Glossu.
The Darkening of Glossu
Upon arrival in Diamondia, Shimmerah’s presence causes the crystals that provide energy to dim black. The energy-elves are alarmed by this phenomenon; however, Shimmerah embraces it with amusement, indicating a shift towards evil intentions. She begins absorbing all available power from these crystals, plunging Glossu into darkness.
Confrontation with Queen Sapphire
Shimmerah teleports into the crystal palace where she confronts Queen Sapphire. Stripped of her powers due to Shimmerah’s absorption spell, Sapphire is rendered helpless. Enchanted by Shimmerah’s beauty, she succumbs and kneels in worship. Shimmerah demands that Sapphire abandon devotion to Gimmorrighte and instead establish temples dedicated to herself as a new goddess.
The Encounter with King Jasper
Next, Shimmerah travels to Kawaiin where King Jasper is captivated by her allure. His infatuation leads him to forget his duties until Shimmerah commands him to bow lower after slapping him for his lack of reverence.
