Beach Boardwalk Convergence

I liked how the three boardwalks met together in the center here.

Our city's beach is empty here. Not a soul on it. But this beach will probably be full tomorrow.

If the weatherman is right, we're supposed to get 80-degree temperatures in the next two days, which is perfect beach weather compared to the 50 and 60 degree coolness we've been having.

I'm still using Photos as my default Editor that came with my Apple Mac Mini Pro. It's not very robust compared to a dedicated Editor like Lightroom or Capture One. It doesn't have automatic lens correction as evidenced by the curvature of the Lake horizon seen here, which would normally be corrected.

Have a great week everyone!

Summer Sunset

Lake Michigan glows gold under a golden sky.
I never tire of living one block from the lakeshore!

Splash!

It was low evening light when I captured the waves crashing against these pretty rocks. My slow 1/30 shutter speed produced the smooth water motion.

I see someone has balanced a few rocks atop two of the boulders. So far the waves haven't knocked them over :)

Have a great Sunday...

Spotted Sandpiper in the Evening Colors

Third and last image in this Spotted Sandpiper series...

Standing and feeding in a water pool as the sun set, this pretty little bird was eyeing me up, assessing if I was a danger. Apparently I wasn't since it proceeded to feed and forage for the next 20 minutes until I left the scene.

Getting down on their eye level really allows one to enter into their world, giving us a much more intimate experience with nature. It is so rewarding.

Thank you for sharing this experience with me through your views and comments. It means a lot...

Spotted Sandpiper Pastels

Second of my current three-image series on this Spotted Sandpiper... This is another eye-level view of this lovely little bird in the evening colors.

Join me now and step into the avian world of the Spotted Sandpiper as it feeds in the shallow water pools among the rock ledges.

This bird allowed me to spend 20 minutes with it last night along the lakeshore. I was 33 feet away from it here. After many nice shots, I slowly backed away and it continued feeding on its own.

What an experience. What a joy!

Spotted Sandpiper in the Rock Pools

Join me here and step into the avian world of the Spotted Sandpiper as it feeds in the shallow water pools among the rock ledges.

This is the first of at least three images that I will post of this bird. It allowed me to spend 20 minutes with it last night along the lakeshore. After many nice shots, I slowly backed away and it continued feeding on its own.

What an experience. What a joy!

Duck in the Bushes

I found this duck perched on a rock amid the bushes close to the waterfront.

I thought it quite unusual so I’m posting it for others to see.

Resting Red-breasted Merganser

I followed this male Merganser for 15 minutes as it fed in the shallow waters along the shore. Typically, I cannot get very close to this species because they are quite skittish and move away long before I can get close to them.

However, to my delight, it decided it needed a rest, so it climbed up onto the rock ledge in front of me and proceeded to lay down. I captured many good images and then left him to his slumber.

Have a great new week everyone!

Annual Fleabane in Verdant Green

I am taking a small break from Flickr, my friends, so this will be my last post for a few days...

Finishing my Flower series, this image features a wildflower called Annual Fleabane, which reseeds itself every year. It is native to Eastern North America, but it has spread to Western areas also.

Dainty little white petals surround a pretty yellow center giving it a lovely appearance and form.
It is considered a weed since it is everywhere but I see it as a beautiful little wildflower plant :)

See you all in a few days...

Sunset Spire

A slice of our cityscape at sunset, this church spire is not only beautiful, but is a fitting image for Good Friday and the 2.38 billion Christians who commemorate the Suffering Savior hanging on the Cross on this day.

A blessed Holy week to everyone...

Sunset at the Lighthouse

Subtle but beautiful colors paint the sky and Lake as the sun goes down a few days ago...

I never tire of living by Lake Michigan and our city's lighthouse is a landmark that always begs to be photographed. Enjoy it with me :)

Gold and Blue

My Flickr friends, I will be taking a few days off of Flickr, so this will be my last post for a bit...

I captured this scene 19 days ago as March's full moon rose over Lake Michigan (3/13/25). The foreground features one of the four crumbling jettys which extend out from our city's North Beach.

Handheld at 1/50th of a second.

Gold moon, blue night sky, and golden reflection... Enjoy.

Tree and Lighthouse

Fourth and last image in this Tree series...

A large, old Cottonwood tree arches over toward Lake Michigan, framing the Sheboygan lighthouse in its branches.

Without a doubt, trees are one of my favorite subjects to photograph...

Birch Tree at Sunset

I have passed this tree a thousand times before, but this time the colors and contrasts were just right and it caught my eye. I love the white bark on these Birch trees.

I edited and processed to taste and then gave it a color-coordinated frame to finish its presentation.

Enjoy :)

Evening Falls

Every sunset is its own show in the sky, varying with each day. This scene features two old jetties jutting out into Lake Michigan, the blue water of the vast lake, and then the pink and yellow sky above.

Thanks for all your views and comments and taking the time to enjoy my photostream :)
