Shoal Bay Beach

An archive photo showing my wife taking a moment to enjoy the awesome beauty of Shoal Bay beach on the Caribbean island of Anguilla. We often take a day trip here while we are at Sint Maarten. Shoal Bay beach is two miles of stunning shoreline with white sand and turquoise water. Our last trip was in 2023 and the beach looks exactly the same, only the beach chairs and umbrellas change.

Well, there was not much to look at under the surface there but still.. love of my life at Shoal Bay Beach, Anguilla, BWI.

Because there is happiness to be found under the surface.

A handheld pano, like many of my IPhoneX panos, and showing the scene at the top of Mount Tomaree. The walk up from the carpark is about one kilometre (although it may feel like 4 times that) with some metal boardwalks some steep sections and steps.
Parking at the back of Zenith Beach can be difficult to obtain at times although should be fine outside school holidays and weekends. Shoal Bay, Zenith Beach, Wreck Beach and Box Beach and Yacaaba Head to the north are all visible from the lookout at the top of Tomaree Head as well as Fingal Sandspit and Fingal Lighthouse.
Its also well worth doing the walk around the headland to see the World War 2 gun emplacements.

This image was taken from the Shoal Bay side not far from the entrance to the walking track to the top of Tomaree Head and Zenth Beach.
The Shoal Bay, Fingal Bay and Nelson's Bay areas are part of magnificently scenic Port Stephens and any visitor to Australia looking to find some of Australia's renowned coastal scenery is well advised to include this area on any itinerary heading north from Sydney.
Shoal Bay is tucked inside spectacular Tomaree and Yaccaba Headlands and if time allows be sure to do the one kilometre (.62 mile) walk to the top of Tomaree Head. (Photos to follow this image). Other walks take you to a number of historic world war 2 gun emplacements around the headland.
Yaccaba Head is on the northern side of the entrance to Port Stephens and is accessible from Hawks Nest along One Mile Beach but at least 3-4 hours would need to be allowed if driving around to Hawks Nest from Nelson Bay.
