Wayside Shrine in Belur by yhila

I encountered this colourful small shrine on a busy roadside of Beluru (or Belur) in the evening. No information is available as to this specific shrine but it may be a shrine related to Lord Shiva judging from the trident mark on the roof

Such "wayside shrines" are found all over India and have an important role to filll the gap between the institutional temples like Chennakeshava and the domestic/family shrines by catering to the needs of everyday worship, relaxation and communities according to Wikipedia.

I don't know the relationship between the shrine and the people in the photo. Interesting stories might have been heard, if I could communicate with them.
