Time to leave this feeding place....D800

This male Northern Shoveler was feeding on a big moss patch near shore at Lafrenere Park and didn't know I was around.
He kept feeding with his back to me and his head underwater. Then he picked his head up and turned toward the sun and swam across the lake and was gone. The sky was completely overcast but still fairly bright. The dark colors of the bird slightly slowed the image exposure causing the water to have a slight high key appearance. I liked the image so here it is. :-)

Not a sign of the times but a real location. If one passes the sign then they would end up in the water in southeast Louisiana! This is at the end of Highway 46.

My first encounter with a kestrel. I was photographing pelicans and happened to see this bird sitting on a wire between two fish camps and got a couple shots before he quickly left the scene.

Big boy resting at Shell Beach, Louisiana.

The dark background is WATER under a heavily shaded bayou embankment!!! The pelican was on a post along the bayou but partly in sun. I just lined the bird up with the heavy shade. The exposure was taken off his white neck and helped to create the dark background too.

Yea the streetcars on the St. Charles Streetcar Line are mostly 900-series Perley Thomas streetcars manufactured in 1923-1924. Don't forget!

Atop yonder column from 1884 to 2017 was displayed a brass statue of Robert Lee, a horrible man who ought never to have been worshipped that way!
