While wandering through Lisbon’s Socorro district, I came across this woman stepping outside a hair salon for a quick smoke. With foil still in her hair, mid-way through the coloring process, she had an effortlessly striking presence. I asked if I could take her portrait, and she kindly agreed—but, to my taste, she posed a bit too deliberately.
Even so, this moment captures a mix of everyday life and quiet confidence, with a touch of humor. A simple pause in the middle of transformation—one of those unexpected encounters that make street photography so rewarding.
