The D Type like its predecessor the C Type was a purpose built racing car, sharing its XK straight six engine with the C type. Initially fitted with a 3442cc engine uprated to 3781cc in the late 1950's. Advances from the C type include the introduction of Dunlop disc brakes, a monocoque chassis, and aerodynamic design. The body is constructed from aluminium alloy sheets, an aluminium tubed sub-frame and fuel was carried in deformable bags inside cells within the monocoque. The body was designed by Malcolm Sayer. Drag was reduced by tidying the under-body and a large vertical fin on the tail added to increase aerodynamic stability. From 1955 the factory cars were fitted with a longer nose to increase top speed, particularly on the Le Mans Mulsanne straight.
Jaguar D-Types won the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1955, 1956 and 1957. After Jaguar temporarily retired from racing as a factory team, the company offered the remaining unfinished D-Types as XKSS versions whose extra road-going equipment made them eligible for production sports car races in America. In 1957 25 of these cars were in various stages of completion when a factory fire destroyed nine of them, the surviving 16 went to selected customers.

Seeking to rebuild the brand’s reputation that had been tarnished under British Leyland ownership during the 1970s, Jaguar developed the XJR series of ground-effects sports racing cars that won several notable trophies between 1986 and 1991. This XJR-7 of 1986 was a winner in the IMSA (International Motor Sports Association race races.

** Not certain about the year, i have seen Geoff Twemlows car reffered to as both 2010 and 2012.
The Saker GT was originally developed in 1999 when Saker were based in New Zealand, after original company owner Bruce Turnbull left the company, new owners based in the Netherlands resumed production and continue to make the Saker GT today.
The Saker GT as with other Saker model can be fitted with a number of engines, most popular engine choice is the flat four Subaru engine adapted to rear wheel drive as fitted in this car
