Flatlay still life with forget me not flowers. The background is created by cutting a hole in the lid of a shoe box to form a niche to frame the flowers - and laying some textured card underneath them. A separate texture, from a weather-worn metal post found and shot in Bristol, has then been added around the niche and around the edge of the 'shoebox lid' background in processing.
I found this little piece of flat rusty metal on the beach at Trefor on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales and thought the blue of the three Welsh mussel shells went well with the rusty texture. The text in the background is from a medieval script (in Welsh) of the ancient tale of Taliesin, who was given that name after being rescued from the ocean as a baby.
I recently discovered a watercolorist that captured my attention completely, Hubert Shuptrine. I now have his oversized book and when the day becomes a bit too trying, I relax by studying his paintings. I photographed his still life to create my own version of a basket of apples as an introduction to the autumn season.

Where I'd prefer to be right now....
Light painted still life with some pub regulars. Not a 'self portrait' as I prefer a pint of stout or porter; always go for crisps over nuts (apart from the company); usually lose at dominoes; haven't the patience for crosswords; don't gamble and never actually buy the Daily Mirror (other than as a prop) 😁
[Image has been re-edited, replaced and re-posted in some groups after realising some processing errors in first version. Apologies for that]
