This is A snap from the park by me, the subject of the portrait is Henrik known as: Quwajdi or Qwajdi (or even Kvaidy)
…he was one the band members in the no longer active band Electric Mistress, I was at all their concerts when they played, a bit of a grungy stoner band with loads of feedback, pedals and audio-effects, I still own their DIY cd-record with Isodor Quwajdis’s pet cat on the cover…
…I play it every second year or so… If I remeber it correctly the lineup was Qwajdi, Heinreich, Krisse, Peter-Jesus and Amanda on drums…
…anyhow most of us where poor, so except for drinking coffee at cheap cafés (which practically was almost free) we would hang in the park since it didn’t cost anything, well you had to pay for any optional beer, cigarettes or food, bit otherwise it was free…
…most of us was recently unemployed after many years of studies, the first generation of Swedes that didn’t automatically got work after school…
…most of us had dreams of becoming visual artists, actors or professional musicians or a combination of any of those…
…in the park you could socialize with known people or strangers, sometimes eat of the crumbs of anyone who recently received a welfare check…
…the fountain was good for cooling your feet in when the summer days got too hot…
…or you beers if you just had received money :) if you were lucky you would get invited into parties in the park, perhaps the very same evening or at the weekend…
