“Casablanca” has many elements that make it appealing to audiences of different generations. It has a compelling story of love, sacrifice and patriotism set against the backdrop of World War II. It has memorable characters played by iconic actors, a timeless theme song, “As Time Goes By” performed by Dooley Wilson, and reflects the mood and values of the American society during the war.
