Okaloosa County (FL) sponsors a program called the “Thumbs Up” Award in which anyone can nominate employees who are caught going above and beyond. Lee Martin, LPN and Amber Thomas, LPN, were nominated by Lt. Robert Boutwell after he was involved in a Use of Force with another officer. The two nurses had to call for help after an officer’s transmission failed. Due to their clear and effective call for help, assistance was able to come and render aid. Lt. Boutwell spoke to the nurses personally to thank them for their excellent performance and to let them know their hard work and professional demeanor are appreciated. Congratulations on the award, Lee and Amber!
