Bridge over the Gyakusa River near the main gate of the Togakushi shrine. This was a fantastic walk through the cedar promenade up to the main shrine. Just a short bus ride from Nagano.

The Zuishinmon Gate at Togakushi stands quietly among towering cedar trees, covered in fresh snow. This historic gate marks the sacred path leading toward the Okusha Shrine, where centuries-old cedars form one of Japan’s most atmospheric forest walks. In the heart of the mountains of Nagano, winter transforms the shrine into a place of deep stillness and reflection.
